D-Day Landing & The Western Front
Day 1, Paris - Caen
After arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport this morning, travel to Caen, capital of Normandy.
Day 2, D-day Landing Beaches
Today's touring begins at the Caen Memorial Peace Museum to see actual video footage from the D-Day Invasion. Afterwards tour to the harbor at Arromanches. Continue to the battery at Longues-sur-Mer and the American Cemetery. Visit the D-Day landing sites with time to walk on Omaha Beach.
Day 3, Caen - Bruges
Today you will travel via Rouen to view the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral. Continue via Dunkeque, site of the 1940 evacuation of an estimated 350,000 British and Allied forces to the safety of England and the Belgian port city of Ostende to Bruges for 2 nights stay.
Day 4, Bruges
This morning enjoy a guided walking of the historical centre of Bruges. During the 2 hour walk you will discover the most important sightseeing places of Bruges such as Market Square with its belfry, the Burg Square with the gothic town hall and Holy Blood Basilica, the Fish market, Our Lady Church and St Saviour Cathedral. Free afternoon.

Day 8, Amiens - Villers Bretonneux - Paris
This morning visit the Australian War Memorial at Villers Bretonneux, which features a 32-metre Memorial Tower with the names of more than 11,000 soldiers etched into the walls; the tower is situated behind the graves of 770 Australian soldiers. You will also visit 'L'Ecole Victoria' (Victoria School) with its 'Franco-Australian Museum' which houses a range of materials dealing with the Australian connection with the town. This afternoon travel to Paris.
Day 9,
Palace of Versailles
This morning visit the Chateau de Versailles with a guided tour of the apartments.
Day 10, Paris
Free day, for last minute shopping and sightseeing; Notre Dame, Sainte Chappelle, Montre Martre, Sacre Coeur, Rue Mouffetard, Le Louvre, Musée d'Orsay and more.
Day 11, Paris - Australia
Airport transfer for flight to Australia.

Day 7, Ypres (Ieper) - Amiens
This morning visit VC Corner; Australian Cemetery and Australian statue and memorial at Fromelles; the Canadian memorial and preserved craters and trenches at Vimy Ridge. Afternoon visit to Wellington Quarry in nearby Arras, part of the preserved tunnel system where New Zealand and British troops waited before the 1917 Battle of Arras.

Day 5, Bruges - Ypres (Ieper)
Travel this morning to Ypres for a guided walking tour through the centre of town, including the magnificent Cloth Hall, St Georges Chapel and St Martin's Church. We have also included a visit to the 'In Flanders Fields' Museum - a remarkable interactive experience of World War 1 located in the Cloth Hall.
Day 6, Ypres (Ieper)
Today trace the battlefields and memorials associated with some of the most costly operations fought in by Australian soldiers - the battles of the 'Flanders Offensive'. The site of the Battle of Messines; the New Zealand Memorial; the Toronto Avenue Cemetery; the Island of Ireland Peace Park; via the famous Menin Road to visit Hooge Crater Cemetery; the Museum, the 5th Australian Division Memorial; the New Zealand Memorial at Polygon Wood; the British Commonwealth's largest war cemetery at Tyne Cot on the slopes of Passchendaele village. This evening attend the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate memorial to the Missing.
